After a promising playing career Jon began to concentrate on refereeing before advancing through the ranks to the select group of professional officials in 2011, refereeing in the Premier League.
Now an established referee officiating in domestic and European competitions, Jon has developed a clear management style when dealing with the worlds greatest players, taking charge of high profile matches including Sir Alex Fergusons’s emotional farewell at Old Trafford.
Jon combines his busy refereeing commitments with the role of Executive Head Teacher in West Yorkshire. Having been the Head Teacher and Principal of a number of schools in Halifax and a local Leader of Education for the National College, Jon is well versed in managing, motivating and leading staff. Additionally, as the leader of the Sunday times School of the Year and two outstanding schools, Jon has a proven track record of getting the best out of his staff.
Through his roles as Head Teacher and Premier League Referee Jon has fine-tuned his skills as a motivational, inspirational and stimulating speaker who thrives on audience interaction.
His presentation entitled “Managing the Game” takes the audience on a journey from match appointment, to delivering the game to its successful conclusion. The presentation concentrates on the management of people, motivating teams, and sharing a vision and overcoming adversity.
Through Jon’s inspiring, humerous and anecdotal delivery the audience is left with a clear message of the required ingredients to achieve success.
“Made an excellent link between teaching and professional sport. The audience enjoyed the session and Jon dealt well with the technical issues that he faced.”
